I joined QCRI because the institute is heading in the direction where I want to be.
Dr Nan Tang’s research interests include big data analytics, data curation and data stream management.
At QCRI, he is involved in two main projects. The NADEEF project aims to develop a commodity data cleaning system, which is extensible, generic and easy-to-deploy. The second project is a QCRI-CSAIL collaboration called Data Civilizer, that finds and links related data scattered across digital files, for easy querying and filtering.
Nan was a Research Fellow at LFCS (Laboratory for Foundations of Computer Science) at the University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh, UK (2010--2011).
He was a scientific staff member with the CWI (Dutch National Research Center for Mathematics and Computer Science), Amsterdam, Netherlands (2008--2010).
Nan obtained his PhD from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, China (2007). He holds a visiting position at University of Waterloo, Canada (03/2007-08/2007).
