QCRI welcomes 2018 summer interns
Projects will include developing a TEDTalk visualization, deep maps, learning from time series sensor data, real-time detection of phishing domains and developing a voice ID speaker recognition system.
QCRI has welcomed 52 interns for its 2018 summer internship program.
This year’s program will see 31 scientists and software engineers in the fields of Arabic language technologies, data analytics, distributed systems, social computing and cyber security mentoring interns on 29 projects.
The projects will include developing a TEDTalk visualization, deep maps, learning from time series sensor data, prediction and real-time detection of phishing domains and developing a voice ID speaker recognition system.
Dr. Eman Fituri, QCRI’s Director of Educational Initiatives, said the program was again oversubscribed, with QCRI receiving 129 applications from prospective interns. The program launched in 2012 with only six students.
“This shows the growing popularity of our internships and underlines the rare opportunity that it provides to work with scientists and software developers who are developing some world-class technology,” Dr. Fituri said.
The program, which runs until July 5, is for undergraduate students studying computer science, computer engineering and similar disciplines.
